Our Mission:

USAGA is a group of angling guides who strive to maintain sustainable recreational angling opportunities on the Skeena River system. Our goal is to work with Government and First Nations to conserve and protect wild fish for current and future generations. Our members operate on the traditional territories of the Wet’suwet’en, Gitxsan, Lake Babine and Tahltan.

The purposes of the Association:

  • To form and maintain a working relationship with government and First Nations while deciding policies and regulations that may have an impact on fishing in the Upper Skeena River watershed.

  • To preserve and enhance sport fishing, especially on the steelhead rivers of the Skeena River system in British Columbia.

  • To encourage ethical behavior among all user groups fishing the Upper Skeena area. This includes licensed guides, visiting anglers and resident anglers.

  • To recognize that there are many different user groups that fish the Upper Skeena River system. Individual groups need to acknowledge that each user group occupies a different space in the fishery, but we all need to work together to conserve and maximize opportunities.

  • To work with local organizations such as Skeena Wild and Skeena Watershed Conservation Coalition.

  • Membership in the Association is open to all guides who hold a current BC Angling Guide license plus classified waters days on the steelhead rivers of the Upper Skeena River system. Members are required to pay annual dues.
